Classical Guitar Immersion
August 16-22, 2027
Mount Angel Abbey in Mount Angel, Oregon
Classical Guitar Immersion (CGI) is an annual event where I work throughout the year with a small group of beginning to advanced students in developing performing and recording skills. CGI culminates in a six day workshop at the Mount Angel Abbey in Mount Angel, Oregon.
CGI Week will be limited to 8 Performers but the monthly workshops are open to a limited number of Auditors. Performers and auditors will gain from my 4 decades of performing, touring and recording experience. CGI could be considered a Pro/Amateur event where students are trained in the skills of how to program and prepare for performances and recording of 7 to 20 minutes of repertoire.
“After thirty years of playing, four years in a guitar performance degree program, and ten years of lessons and master class workshops I was still using a composite of haphazard methods. Scott imparts a proven, systematic, and practical way of learning and performing repertoire.” Peter Jesperson
All Levels Welcome
Each year CGI imparts a particular set of performance practice and preparation skills around technique, musicianship, recording and performance anxiety rehab for the classical guitar student of any level.

Requirement
Players of all levels are welcome at CGI and the only requirement is that you have a minimum of 3 pieces, or studies memorized.
“Scott’s deep understanding of music, worldwide performance experience, and relaxed teaching style all combine to greatly raise the level of each student.” Mike Hurley
Building a Learning Community
The Classical Guitar Immersion experience includes 10 monthly workshops prior to our event. These workshops better prepare each player for the immersion process. And whether you’ve played for decades or just became acquainted to the classical guitar, CGI will give you a solid set of performance skills. A limited number of Auditors will be accepted for the workshops. Auditors are automatically put on a waiting list if a Performer’s spot becomes available.

This year’s CGI is once again focused on performance preparation culminating in three concerts at the Mount Angel Abbey. Students will play at least one set comprised of 2-3 pieces per night. Auditors should prepare 2-3 pieces total at a minimum. Performers can choose to play one night or all three nights.
Performance Class Meetings
From September through January the CGI Performer’s group meetings will take place on the 1st Saturday of each month. Auditors can attend and if space is available, invited to perform. Beginning February the meetings will take place weekly.

CGI Monthly Meetings – Open to Auditors
Beginning in September of 2026 CGI participants meet on the last Saturday of each month at 1 pm PDT via Zoom. In these meetings we’ll cover technical and musicianship skills that will aid in your performance development.
